Is That A Calçot In Your Pocket Or Are You Just Happy It’s Spring?

Paret_de_calçotsOh, those Spanish. They do so many things well, including throwing some of the best parties around. One of the country’s most famous fêtes is the traditional Catalonian Calçotada—a spring celebration of the long, sweet onion that grows in abundance in almost every garden in Spain—and it’s coming to Ecco on Sunday, April 21 from 6-8pm.

We’ll take bunches of spring onions (a close relative of calçots) from Planted Rock Farm, grill them over an open wood fire, wrap them in newspaper and serve them on our communal tables with freshly grilled bread and a variety of housemade sauces including romesco and salsa verde

And like any good Spanish culinary event, there will be plenty of wine to sample including cava, rioja and verdejo. And, if you’re up for it, you can challenge yourself to an over-the-head chug from our authentic porróns (pictured below).

DEL SABER PORRÓNThis is going to be one heck of a party and the cost is only $30 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Plus, we’ll give you 10% off if you choose to stay for dinner after. There are only 30 tickets available so go online and get yours today!
