Traditionally, here’s how Italians, particularly in southern Italy, have launched their celebrations on New Year’s Eve: by throwing old pots, pans, clothes, appliances—even furniture—out the window. Really! It’s meant to symbolize “letting go” of past unhappiness to prepare yourself for the future. Although most Italians have abandoned the tradition, do watch your head on the streets of Naples on New Year’s Eve. Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Fortunately, the folks at La Tavola won’t be throwing anything out its windows, but they are featuring Executive Chef Brent Banda‘s delicious 3-course prix fixe dinner for only $49/person (plus tax and gratuity).

Trenette stone crab, poached farm egg, chives, poppy seed fonduta
Porchetta Yukon Gold potato puree, braised fennel, juniper sugo
Chestnut Gnocchi braised wild boar, chive flowers, Cacio Tartufo
Roasted Redfish  fregola, Sapelo Island clams, sun dried tomatoes, sofrito
Saltimbocca alla Romana with veal scallopine, prosciutto, frisee, anchovy vinaigrette
Grilled Ribeye celery root puree, rosemary, Laudemio olive oil
Tagliatelle Bolognese housemade meat ragu, ribbon pasta
Rissoto Bianco porcini mushrooms, veal sweetbreads, chives and lemon
Grilled Trout Sea Island red peas, arugula, red onion, sunchoke sugo
Roasted Lamb Shank polenta spin rosso, Taggiasca olives, fennel pollen

Meyer Lemon-Olive Oil Cake stewed huckleberries, fresh cream
