Southern Is As Southern Does This Mother’s Day

We Southerners love our mamas like nobody’s business.

They put up with a lot, don’t they? Dirty little feet covered in Georgia red clay; keeping the pollen at bay; finding ways to make sure we were cool and happy in the long, hot summer.

So we feel this demands a little pampering on her special day. You could wash her car, clean the house, do the dishes, buy her flowers—there are all sorts of ways to say “Thank you.”

However, there’s one, not surprisingly, we’re a little partial to: A delicious, Southern-style brunch or dinner at South City Kitchen. I mean, what says “I love you” more than a hot, fluffy biscuit?

Both locations will be open from 9am-3pm offering a 3-course $29 prix fixe menu that includes brunch classics like she-crab soup, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, crab cake hash, peach french toast pudding and pecan pie.

But if Mom would prefer to sleep in, both locations will offer a 3-course $39 prix-fixe dinner from 5-9pm with hearty dishes like beef tenderloin, Georgia trout,  spice-roasted pork loin, grilled salmon and ginger-peach cobbler.

Makes you wish every day was Mother’s Day, doesn’t it?
