It’s Carnival at El Taco!

Quite simply, Carnival is a massive celebration of indulgences prior to Lent. Decadent eating, dancing, drinking and other unmentionables reign supreme around the globe, with Brazil’s lavish display of floats and costumes being the world’s most famous. Excuse me for a brief moment while I check the cost of airfare to Rio de Janeiro.

In the meantime, here’s what our neighborhood taquería, The Original El Taco, has planned.  Executive Chef Scott Keefer and his team bring a little bit of the flavors and excitement to you with the bold tastes and indulgent preparations of its limited-time-only “Carnival!” menu running February 15-19. The special dishes will change throughout the 4-day event and will be available in addition to most of the regular menu. Items include:

  • Plantain and roasted garlic dip with chicharrones “chips”
  • Golden lentil soup with housemade chicken chorizo sausage, radish, cilantro oil
  • Crab cake with blue corn manucho, gulf lump crab, lime butter, corn and caper salsa
  • 3 handmade vegetable tamales: corn, cactus and zucchini, served with coconut-mango salsa
  • Smoked mountain trout taco with yellow pico de gallo, spicy pickled red cabbage
  • Crispy chicken cutlet with roasted chayote squash, poblano salsa, picked red onion
  • Wood-grilled market fish with smoky corn salsa, jalapeno, green rice, lime
  • 3 housemade sausages: beef, pork and lamb, served with red and green chili sauces and garlic cream
  • Smoked beef brisket tamale, smoky Fresno chili sauce, avocado salsa, crema, micro cilantro
  • Churritos with cinnamon chocolate sauce and shaved piloncillo
  • Pineapple custard with charred pineapple caramel, spiced brulee

So, give in

to your sinful side—you know you want to. Reservations for parties of 7 or more are available at 404.873.4656. See you there
